The Seilbahnberg (cable car mountain) in Lengede

One usually connects Lengede with mining and its proximity to the Salzgitter – industry. But Lengede has lot more to offer.

Recreation parks, lake landscapes as nature reserves, old village centres and typical miner settlements with charming half-timbered houses.

Between 1917 and 1927, the spoil from the ore surface mining was, with the help of a cable car heaped up. A 62,7m high cone was created.

The Seilbahnberg can be seen from far away.

The mountain is surrounded by a big public park and offers many options for leisure time activities, like walking paths, barbeque place, playground and observation deck.
Nearby a memorial was built for the victims of the mining disaster in 1963.
